Mid Central Medical Mayo Instrument Stand 16 x 21 Tray Stainless Steel with Safety Descend Foot Lock MCM751

Mayo stands and Ventric stands play significant roles in medical and surgical settings, contributing to the efficiency, precision, and sterility of various procedures. These stands provide a dedicated and organized space for medical instruments, surgical tools, and supplies used during procedures. This arrangement ensures that healthcare professionals have quick and easy access to the necessary items, reducing the risk of delays or errors.

Ventric refers to the larger area for instruments so they support more weight and typically have wheels to enable the table to be moved easily. They also enable you to create a larger sterile field.

The construction materials vary but the superior and longest lasting today is the stainless steel. Most medical service products use the Grade 304 due to its corrosion resistance, durability, ease of cleaning and versatility. It can withstand a variety of harsh conditions without deteriorating or becoming brittle, ensuring reliable performance over time. Additionally stainless steel can be welded creating a strong and continuous bond. This produces a high strength joint tight that smooth so it is easily cleaned. None of the alternate joiners, rivets, screws or bolts are as strong, smooth or as durable as a weld.

Stainless steel products can vary in their magnetic properties. Some stainless steel types are magnetic, while others are not. It depends on the specific composition of the stainless steel used. It is for this reason ONLY components listed as MRI Safe can be used in the MRI environment. The factory must test and assert that level of non-magnetic reactance before it is safe for that area.

The chrome plated alternate is a lower cost chrome plated steel, often tubing, but this type is designed for light duty service. It can get damaged or nicked then rust at any spot the plating is damaged. Additionally just use over time rust can show around joints, fulcrum points or any spot the plating is thin and porous. If kept in a clean environment with minimal use, not damaged you can expect many years of service.

Mayo and Ventric Stands Information

Most mayo or Ventric stands are made from stainless steel because they are welded and ship complete with only the top tray shipped separately. Other models may require minor assembly but that should be stated in the description.

Most mayo stands have adjustable height by hand or foot controls. More details should be available in the product details.

The attractive and hygienic surface appearance of stainless steel products cannot be regarded as completely maintenance free. All grades and finishes of stainless steel may in fact stain, discolor or attain an adhering layer of grime in normal service. To achieve maximum corrosion resistance the surface of the stainless steel must be kept clean.

Stainless steel is easy to clean. Washing with soap or a mild detergent and warm water followed by a clean water rinse is usually quite adequate for most medical equipment. Use a soft brush or cloth to remove stubborn dirt or blood. Do not use abrasive clothes or pads that will alter the finish of the stainless steel. An enhanced appearance will be achieved if the cleaned surface is finally wiped dry. We do not recommend using a cart washer for stainless steel equipment unless it is specifically rated for using in a cart washer. This can damage wheel bearings, parts glued on may release due to heat and water may be retained on some pieces of equipment. This can void manufacturer’s warranty.

Most stainless steel equipment does not need to be sterilized as it is usually not in direct contact with surgical instruments. If stainless steel is required to be sterilized, please check with sterilization equipment manufacturers for settings as equipment cycles vary.

After stainless steel has been cleaned, you will want to disinfect before use. This is best done with disposable wipes not containing chlorine bleach. If bleach wipes are used, you will need to do a final rinse with clean water to remove the bleach residue as it will cause the stainless steel to have a cloudy finish or white residue over time. We recommend using Super Sani-Cloth® Germicidal Disposable Wipes to disinfect stainless steel medical equipment.

Most mayo stands, especially the stainless-steel versions, are designed for many years of consistent work.

The top surface area for most mayo stands starts at 12X19 inches on the small models and goes to 30X32 inches on the largest Ventric Table. There are also single pole models, but they have the smaller surface area, 12X19 or slightly larger, out of concern for stability. Keep in mind the larger the tray and instrument capacity, the larger the footprint needed on the floor to ensure stability. It is often the floor footprint that determines the usability of the stand.

Store mayo stands in a clean, dry, and designated area to prevent contamination and damage. Consider covering them with protective covers or drapes when not in use.
